I recently discovered that florists sell more flowers on Mother's Day, than Valentine's Day. That says a lot for Mothers! Whether you are a mother, grandmother, godmother, stepmother, mother-in-law, aunt, wife, significant other, sister, friend, mentor or a woman who loves with a mother’s heart, this blog is especially for YOU!
I want to share  a few poems about mothers  from my book, "Poetry From My Prayer Closet," and I hope all you mothers will find one that will speak to you. Or, maybe a son or daughter will find one of the poems that will honor his/her mom.
So, to all the Mothers out there... HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

MOTHER

Oh mother, my mother
If I could express all that you've been,
This mother's day poem,
would certainly have no end.

From the cradle to teen years,
from the altar to a husband,
You have always been there
to wipe my many tears.

In the rustling of the trees,
and the cool breeze from the leaves,
You have always walked with me,
so in my heart you'll always cleave.

Whether tears or lots of laughter,
in failures or successes,
Your love inspired me to hold on,
long, long, thereafter.

Your love will never fade away,
It is my joy in everyday.
So let me express this last thought,
You will forever linger in my heart.

A MOTHER'S LOVE

If I were a criminal to be hung,
from an old rugged cross,
I know your steadfast love for me,
would never, ever be lost.

For you, Mother, would follow me,
to the depth of any ocean,
Simply to maintain,
Your unwavering devotion.

So Mother, if I may,
There's something I must say.
This love I have for you,
Goes deep that same way.

Mother, I love you and I want to
Thank you too.
For always showering me,
 With your love so true.

A ROSE FOR YOU

Mother, you've always had
your job cut for you,
With sleepless nights, illnesses,
changing diapers, and raising us too.

The best teacher could never match,
the work that you have done,
Teaching us right from wrong,
yet no prizes you have won.

Now with this rose and all my love,
I want to honor you,
And say how much I appreciate
all the things you continually do!

A TRIBUTE TO MOTHER

A special mother in my life,
has died yet she lives on.
She blessed me with her love and joy,
then graciously was gone.

She came, she went, she left behind,
this void no one can fill.
A legacy so well-defined,
she fashioned it with skill.

This special mother touched my life,
with ALL she had to give.
This special mother touched my life,
and taught me how to live.

Now in my heart this special mom,
will always have a SPACE.
Yes, in my heart, this special one
Can never be replaced.
